Carrie Covell, LMSW, earned her Master's Degree in Social Work at Columbia University, where she participated in the DBT Training Program and completed intensive training in DBT with The Linehan Institute's training company, Behavioral Tech. In the last year of her master's program, Carrie worked as a DBT intern at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT, where she treated patients in both the DBT and Dual-Diagnosis Transitional Living Programs, as well as in the DBT Intensive Outpatient Program. Previously, she interned as a primary therapist at a psychiatry practice in Jackson Heights, Queens, and served as the Columbia DBT Training Program Assistant. 

 

Carrie is currently pursuing formal training in CBT and intends to obtain certification in DBT. She is passionate about using evidence-based, effective treatment to help her clients meet their goals and build the lives they want.

 

Prior to becoming a therapist, Carrie trained as a yoga teacher and worked as a veterinary technician. Originally from the Central Coast of California, she has lived in NYC for the past eight years and enjoys traveling (especially to Hawaii) and exploring this amazing city with her partner.
