Laura Miller, LMSW, received her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Columbia University. While in her Master’s program, Laura was a fellow of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training program under the supervision of Dr. André Ivanoff, president of the Linehan Institute’s training company, Behavioral Tech, LLC. Laura completed her DBT Intensive Training while in this program, in addition to completing trainings on Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Unified Protocol, and Imminent Suicide Risk.
Laura also completed a clinical internship at the Mood Disorders Center of the Child Mind Institute, where she delivered comprehensive DBT to children and adolescents experiencing emotion dysregulation. In addition to practicing DBT, Laura is experienced in delivering other evidence-based interventions such as CBT and Behavioral Parent Training (BPT). Laura has delivered treatment in both individual and group modalities and facilitated several psychoeducation groups focusing on emotion regulation, substance abuse and relapse prevention, and trauma and resilience.
Laura is dedicated to building authentic and genuine relationships with her clients, while tailoring empirically-supported techniques to fit each individual’s specific needs and long term goals.
Born in upstate New York, Laura has developed a love for New York City. She does not at all miss the harsh winters, but does miss her parents, five siblings, and two dogs. Laura enjoys trying new foods, and dining out in the City, yet is still looking for the sandwich shop that will rival her favorite, All’ Antico Vinaio, in Florence, Italy, where she spent a semester abroad. When not working, you can find Laura at the nearest beach, or perhaps binge watching some cringe-worthy reality TV.
